Educational Qualification

Candidates have educational qualification – 10th from a recognized University or its equivalent.

Fresher Category:

  • Fitter, Painter, Welder – Passed 10th Class (minimum 50% aggregate) under the 10+2 system or equivalent.
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (Radiology/Pathology/Cardiology) – Passed 12th Class (minimum 50% aggregate) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Ex-ITI Category:

  • Most trades (Fitter, Machinist, MMV, Turner, Diesel Mechanic, Carpenter, Painter, Welder(G&E), Wireman, Advance Welder, Plumber, Draughtsman-Civil, Instrument Mechanic, Mech. R&AC, Gas Cutter, MMTM, Structural Welder) – Passed 10th Class (min. 50%) + ITI course in the relevant trade with an NCVT/SCVT certificate.
  • Electrician – Same as above, with Science as a subject in 10th.
  • Electronics Mechanic – Same as above, with Science (Physics & Chemistry) and Mathematics.
  • Secretarial Assistant & Stenographer (English) – Passed 12th Class + ITI course with NCVT/SCVT certificate.
  • ICTSM – Passed 10th Class + ITI course with NCVT/SCVT certificate.
  • COPA/PASAA – Passed 10th Class (min. 50%) + National Trade Certificate in Computer Operator and Programming Assistant.

  • Ex-ITI Category: Matriculation marks converted to 100 + ITI marks converted to 100 = Total 200, with equal weightage to both.
  • MLT Category: Higher Secondary marks (with Physics, Chemistry, Maths & Biology) converted to 200.

Only candidates residing within the following areas (Geographical Jurisdiction of Southern Railway) are eligible to apply:

  • Whole State of Tamil Nadu
  • Whole Union Territory of Puducherry
  • Whole State of Kerala
  • Whole Union Territories of Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands
  • Only two districts of Andhra Pradesh: SPSR Nellore and Chittoor

(i) The applying employee should possess the requisite educational qualification prior to/on the closing date of application and entry of the same should also be reflected in the Service Sheet of the employee. Academic qualification must be from government recognized University, otherwise candidature will be rejected.

(ii) Those employees who are awaiting results of the final examination need NOT apply.

(iii) The employees must upload the scanned self-attested copy/copies of educational qualification certificates during filling up of online application and produce the original educational qualification certificates during the time of document verification.

(iv) Candidates having higher educational qualification may also apply however they would not get any advantage above other candidates.

(v) Eligibility of the candidates will be considered on the strength of the information furnished in the ONLINE Application. If at any stage of examination or thereafter, it is found that any information furnished by the candidate in his/her application is false/incorrect or the candidate has suppressed any relevant information or the candidate does not satisfy the eligibility criteria for the post(s), his/her candidature will be rejected forthwith.

(vi) RRC may reject the applications of candidates at any stage of examination process in case it isfound out that the candidates are not fulfilling the requisite criteria.
