One Time Registration (OTR) Guidelines for Scholarships Hosted on NSP
Mandatory Requirement: One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory for applying for various scholarship schemes on National Scholarship Portal/other portals.
Essential Requirement for OTR: Active mobile number is mandatory for OTR.
No payment of fee is required for OTR.
Steps for Registration:
Once allotted an OTR, student can apply for scholarship later when the portal is open for application submission.
Upon successful registration, a reference number will be sent on the registered mobile number.
Download and install NSP OTR app and Aadhaar Face RD services on android based devices.
Perform the Face-Authentication using the generated reference number for OTR sent on your mobile no.
After successful Face-Authentication OTR will be generated.
Please apply for Scholarship using OTR. Merely generation of OTR does not tantamount to application for scholarship.
Aadhaar Requirement: Aadhaar is required for OTR. If Aadhaar is not assigned, registration can be done using Enrollment ID (EID) for Aadhaar. If a minor student has not been assigned Aadhaar yet, registration can be done using Aadhaar of her parent or legal guardian.
It is advised to update other relevant demographic records (name, dob, gender) to match with Aadhaar/EID.
Parent/legal guardian of minor applying with their Aadhaar must ensure that while making an application for Aadhaar enrolment of minor shall use the same demographic details (of minor) as used in the OTR.
One OTR ID is allowed per student. However, parent/legal guardian can generate upto a maximum of two OTRs (for two minor children)
In case more than one OTR is found for a student, she would be liable for debarment from scholarships.
Scheme Overview
The Bihar Government has opened online applications for the Post-Matric Scholarship scheme for the academic year 2025-26.
The scheme is aimed at students from certain categories (SC/ST/BC/EBC) pursuing post-matriculation courses (that is, after class 10/ matric) in recognised institutions.
The official portal for application is the PMS Online portal of Bihar: pmsonline.bihar.gov.in for students of BC/EBC and SC/ST categories.
Key Dates (Academic Year 2025-26)
Online application start date: 15 September 2025.
Online application last date: 15 November 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
Must be a resident of Bihar.
Must belong to one of the eligible categories: SC, ST, BC (Backward Class) or EBC (Extremely Backward Class).
Must have passed Class 10 (matric) and be enrolled in a recognised institution for a post-matric course (e.g., class 11/12, diploma, graduation, post-graduation, technical/professional).
Family’s annual income should be up to an income limit (commonly ₹3 lakh per annum) for many categories.
The institution must be recognised and approved for the course.
Required Documents
Aadhar card of the student.
Bank account details/passbook (account should be seeded with Aadhar for DBT).
Residence certificate of Bihar.
Caste certificate (SC/ST/BC/EBC) as applicable.
Income certificate of the parent/guardian.
Bonafide certificate from the institution.
Copy of last examination mark sheet (class 10 or the previous qualifying exam).
Passport size photograph, mobile number, email etc.
Scholarship Benefits / Amounts
For intermediate (class 11/12) level: approx. ₹2,000.
For undergraduate (BA/BSc/BCom): approx. ₹5,000.
For postgraduate (MA/MSc/MCom): approx ₹5,000.
For diploma/politecthnic courses: approx ₹10,000.
For professional courses (engineering/medical etc): up to ₹15,000 (as per some sources) for certain cases.
