If there’s a mistake in your name or date of birth on your Aadhaar card, If there is any mistake in the name of the father or in your address, then you can get it corrected within 5 to 10 days after applying and you will get a new Aadhar card. It is very easy to get this done but we are not aware of it, hence problems arise.
1. Demographic Details (Personal Information)
These are details you can edit or correct if there is any mistake or if your information changes.
You Can Update:
- Name – For spelling correction, name change after marriage, etc.
- Date of Birth (DOB) – If it’s incorrect or needs correction (only once in most cases).
- Gender – Male / Female / Transgender (update allowed once).
- Address – Update if you move to a new house or change city/village.
- Mobile Number – Add or update your registered mobile for OTP services.
- Email ID – Add or update if it has changed.
- Relationship Details – Father/Mother/Guardian’s name (in supporting documents).

2. Biometric Details
Biometric updates involve your fingerprints, iris scan, and photo.
You Can Update:
- Photograph – Update or retake if the old one is unclear.
- Fingerprints – If your fingerprints have changed or failed to match.
- Iris Scan – Update in case of medical changes or mismatch.
When It’s Required:
- After age milestones: at age 5, 15, and adult re-enrolment.

3. Document Update (Revalidation)

How to Update Aadhaar Card Details Online (2025)
The UIDAI allows you to update some Aadhaar details online using the Self-Service Update system.
You can edit Name, Date of Birth, Gender, and Address online if your mobile number is linked with Aadhaar (for OTP verification).
Step-by-Step Process (Online Method)
Step 1: Login
- Go to the official Aadhaar update portal.
- Enter your Aadhaar Number and the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- Click “Login”.
Step 2: Choose the Field to Update
- After logging in, select which details you want to update:
- Name
- Date of Birth
- Gender
- Address
Step 3: Enter Correct Information
- Carefully fill in the new or corrected details.
- Make sure they match exactly with your supporting documents (spelling, date format, etc.).
Step 4: Upload Supporting Documents
